Team News And Tournament So Far

Chennai Super Kings

For the first time in their history, Chennai Super Kings have lost their first four IPL games and are currently rooted to the bottom of the points table. It appears as though the leadership change is not going as intended, and they need to reassess their approach immediately. Though they won their previous match, they are still battling it out with MI to avoid a bottom placed finish.

Chennai Super Kings made three changes in their last game and are constantly on the lookout for the ideal combination. If Adam Milne recovers from his side injury, strain he will almost certainly replace Mukesh Choudhary in the eleven. Mooen Ali, Dwane Pretorius, and Mukesh Choudhary came in for Adam Milne, Devon Conway, and Mitchell Santner in their match against Lucknow.

In another major blow to the side, their most expensive recruit - Deepak Chahar has now been ruled out of the whole IPL season due to his niggling injuries, leaving CSK short of genuine quality in their pace attack.

Chennai have won only 1 match this season, and will be desperate to win this one to get their play-off campaign underway.

Chennai Super Kings Playing XI (Predicted) Against Punjab Kings :- Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja(c), MS Dhoni(w), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have had a disastrous start to the IPL 2022 season, losing both their first two matches comprehensively. Their bowling has been very poor as DC and RR both found it very easy to post huge totals against them.

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners, have received good news in the form of ace batsman Suryakumar Yadav's comeback from rehabilitation. Yadav, who missed the first two IPL games against Rajasthan Royals(RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), has made a comeback to the team.

Daniel Sams proved to be quite expensive in MI's first game. He conceded 57 runs in four overs and was a major factor for the team's loss in their first game. Riley Meredith, Fabian Allen, or Jaydev Unadkat might take his spot in the starting XI.

Tilak Varma showed off his abilities in the first game against DC, scoring a critical 22 runs off 15 deliveries, and he was also solid against Rajasthan Royals, scoring a brilliant 61 off just 33 balls, studded with 5 sixes. Despite encouraging individual performances, MI have lost 5 out of 5 matches so far, including a heartbreaking defeat in their previous match against Punjab Kings.

Mumbai Indians can easily drop Basil Thampi and Jaydev Unadkat and play both Riley Meredith and Tymal Mills which would significantly boost their bowling attack by a mile or they may opt to play Fabian Allen in place of Ramandeep Singh. Dewald Brevis finally stepped in the previous match with a brilliant innings but could not prevent another defeat.

Mumbai have lost 6 out of 6 matches, in what is clearly their worst ever start to a season.

MI Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (captain), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi.

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

Mumbai are surprisingly still the favourites to win this match, despite not winning a single match so far, with odds of 1.85, while CSK have odds of 1.95.

Top Team Batsman

Mumbai Indians have a brilliant opening pair and both of them are the favourites to be their top scorers, with Ishan Kishan having odds of 3.25 and Rohit Sharma’s odds being 3.00.

Young Ruturaj Gaekwad is the favourite to be Chennai Super Kings’ top batsman in this match with odds of 3.25. He is followed by Moeen Ali at 5.00.

Highest Opening Partnership

Mumbai Indians have odds of 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership as they have Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as their openers. CSK have odds of 1.90 to win this bet as Gaekwad and Uthappa have had some strong starts together, and especially Uthappa is in good form.

Top Team Bowler

Jasprit Bumrah is the clear favourite from MI to be their top bowler with odds of 3.25, while Tymal Mills had a great outing in the previous match and has odds of 3.75.

Dwayne Bravo is CSK’s favourite to be the top bowler with odds of just 3.75 , a testament to his wicket taking ability in the death overs. He has been one of the most prolific bowlers in the IPL in recent years.  He is followed by Adam Milne at 4.60 and KM Asif at 4.75.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 339.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per Dafabet. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.

Individual Player Betting

  • Ishan Kishan to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83 , which is a tempting bet as he is in incredible form and struck a brilliant half century in the first match as well.Devon Conway to score more than 24.5 runs has odds of 1.83 as per Dafabet, which is a tempting bet as he would like to give a quick start to his team as always.
  • MI to hit the most sixes has odds of 1.85, which can be tempting with Yadav back in the team and traditional big hitters Rohit, Ishan and Pollard all ready and waiting. Dewald Brevis alone hit 5 sixes in the previous match. CSK to hit the most sixes have odds of just 1.95, which is understandable as they have Dhoni and Moeen Ali, along with Devon Conway, who can clear the ropes with ease.
  • Bumrah to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.20, while Bravo to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.50.
