Indian Premier League fans were surprised by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Pat Cummins' performance against a record five-time former Mumbai Indians (MI) champion at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium Pune, on Wednesday. Not with the ball, the Australian cricketer made an extraordinary shot with his stick while strengthening the KKR team.
In Match 14 IPL 2022, Cummins hit 15-ball 56 for Kolkata by five wickets with four overs remaining. It was the fastest record in IPL history. With just 14 submissions, this record equals KL Rahul's IPL 2018.
In the KKR match against MI, it can be said that their strength is quite balanced until the last overs. The hitters struggled for clean strokes and Cummins made it so easy. Of course, Cummins' brilliant game gave Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma a hard time. Cummins was able to beat all the bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, as a prime pacer.
When the match ended, Cummins admitted that he was surprised and did not expect what he had done while facing the Indians. The 28-year-old cricketer was surprised by his performance in that round. Even so, he was happy and relieved to have delivered such a great blow.
“I was thinking of doing a swing if it was in my area. I'm not trying to think too much about it. When I came to bat, it was late in the game. So, I have a clear mind to clean the rope. Every time I faced him [Bumrah], I tried to hit as hard as I could, and luckily, it slipped a few times," said Cummins.
