IPL 2022: Sanju Samson hails Yuzvendra Chahal as RR beat Lucknow Super Giants

The Rajasthan Royals managed a stunning victory over their rivals, the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 match on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium. The team led by Sanju Samson has promising performance in the IPL this season. They managed to secure three games and keep the franchise target.

Their star in that extraordinary match was Yuzvendra Chahal who got 41-4. For his incredible hard work during the match and getting an important wicket in the game, he was praised by team captain Sanju Samson after the game was over.

RR vs LSG

At the beginning of the match, the Royals were in the back position in the first half. For most of inning 1, RR was down and out losing 4 wickets for 80 off runs. But Ravichandran Ashwin and Shimron Hetmyer's small partnership in the middle was able to get RR back on track and lead the game.

Furthermore, Hetmyer hit in the last few overs and that effort could power the RR by a competitive 165 runs. Meanwhile, Trent Boult gave RR a brilliant bowling start and he managed to get two wickets in his first over.

After 3 wickets fell in the powerplay, Deepak Hooda and Quinton de Kock tried to make things right. However, the LSG team led by KL Rahul has not been able to rise from the initial pressure because they always lose wickets in the middle of overs. Then, Stoinis tried to overcome it but he still couldn't get his team over the line.

With the Royals' victory, captain Sanju Samson admitted that he was happy and satisfied with the results of his team's work. He doesn't even know if his team is now at the top of the standings. In the match, Sanju gave Kuldeep Sen the last of the game.

“Depends on how he has bowled his first three overs. Got the feeling that he has done well and he is confident (talking about Kuldeep Sen) to go and execute his wide yorker which he has been working on in the offseason. Saw him in Syed Mushtaq and he was nailing his wide yorkers.” said Samson in the post-match presentation.

The greatest legspinner

After their win over Lucknow, Samson showered praise on team-mate Yuzvendra Chahal. His role in securing a crucial wicket for the team was able to lead the Rajashtan-based franchise to a major victory. Praising Chahal's brilliant performance, he said the 31-year-old cricketer could be given the ball at any time from 1-20 overs and is India's greatest legspinner at the moment.

“He’s the greatest legspinner if I can say, that India’s seen in the present. Thought why not use him more at the end when the pressure is more.” Samson added. Meanwhile, regarding Trent Boult's performance in the match, the 27-year-old player revealed that Boult came to him before the first ball and hit the ball.

Chahal scored 4 wickets so that RR can reach the top spot in the IPL points table this season. This is a great achievement for this Rajashtan based team. This senior legspinner was top notch in the bowling department and played his part to lead RR to a table-topping win.

In his career, the right-handed bat player managed to record a milestone in the tournament's history and became the 6th pitcher to get 150 wickets. Chahal, the holder of the Purple Cap in IPL 2022, made his way into the elite roster in the final game of the week. For the next match, Rajasthan will continue their struggle to maintain their victory in the IPL this season.
