Top 10 IPL Players 2021
The 2021 season of the Indian Premier League has seen some amazing performances already, with many match-winners performing at their best to earn some crucial points for their respective teams. We have collected the stats of some of the current best batsmen as well as bowlers, to rank them accordingly. Below is our list of the IPL top 10 players, along with their primary stats for this season.
1. Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is the top run-scorer so far in the 2021 IPL season. Since his move to Delhi Capitals he has probably been the best player in IPL. In just 8 innings, he has hammered 380 runs, with 3 half centuries. The fact that he was the second-highest scorer last season as well, proves how consistent he is in the IPL ranking for batsmen
2. Harshal Patel
Next on this list of best IPL players of the 2021 IPL season , we have the highest wicket-taking bowler of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Harshal Patel. He has already taken 17 wickets in just 7 matches, including a fiver. Patel has been one of the biggest reasons Royal Challengers Bangalore are fighting for the top spot with the likes of Chennai Super Kings and DC, with his prolific death over spells winning several matches already.
3. KL Rahul
Last year's orange cap winner KL Rahul has again been among the runs this season. He is the second highest run-scorer behind Shikhar Dhawan, with 331 runs in just 7 innings, at an alarmingly high average of over 66. With 4 half centuries in just 7 innings, Rahul is the most consistent batsman in the league right now.
4. FAF Du Plessis
The veteran Chennai Super Kings opener has been in prolific form this season. The 37 year old has already scored 320 runs in just 7 innings. He has an average of 64, with a brilliant strike rate of 145. FAF has also scored 4 half centuries so far and is leading Chennai's comeback to the top of the IPL league table after a miserable season last year. Chennai Super Kings are very heavily reliant on the South African opener for further success in the league.
5. Prithvi Shaw
The diminutive opener of Delhi Capitals has been back to his very best in recent times. Despite a poor showing for Team India in January, after which he was dropped and mercilessly trolled on social media, Shaw made a stunning comeback in the domestic circuit before lighting up IPL 2021 with his exquisite timing of the ball. In just 8 innings he has scored 308 runs, with 3 half centuries and a highest score of 82. His strike rate of around 166 is also a brilliant indicator of how attacking he is.
6. Chris Morris
Probably the best all rounder in IPL, Morris has been an exceptional addition to the erstwhile struggling Rajasthan Royals Camp. In just 7 matches, the South African has picked up 14 wickets at a brilliant bowling average of 16. He has also been handy with the bat as recently scored a quickfire unbeaten 36 to win the game for his side. Morris brings a lot of value withe bat and ball both and is one of the finest all rounders in Indian Premier League history.
7. Rashid Khan
The Afghan spin wizard is probably the best bowler in T20s all over the world. His variations are almost impossible for the batsmen to pick, and whoever tries to attack him often loses his wicket, leading to a magical economy rate. In 7 matches, he has already picked up 10 wickets at a league best economy rate of 6.14. If he continues like this, he could be a valid shout for the IPL best player award. The Indian Premier League hasn't seen a better spinner than Rashid Khan in its short history so far.
8. Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal has always been an explosive opener for every team he has played for over the years. This season, the onus on him to perform is higher than ever before, considering his opening partner KL Rahul will be out of action for a while after a surgery. In the first game without Rahul, Mayank scored a stunning unbeaten knock of 99 against DC. He has already scored 260 runs in 7 innings, at an average above 42, and looks set to be the Punjab Kings' most important player.
9. Avesh Khan
The young fast bowler from the Delhi Capitals did not get a lot of opportunities to showcase his talent last year, however, this season he has outperformed the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes for the Delhi side. He is the second highest wicket-taker in the league, only behind Harshal Patel, with 14 wickets in just 8 matches. Avesh is a brilliantly varied bowler, capable of taking wickets during the powerplay as well as the death overs.
10. Sanju Samson
The short yet explosive opener from Kerala, Sanju Samson has well and truly embraced his new captaincy role for the Rajasthan Royals. One of only 3 players to have hit a century this season, Samson has scored 277 runs in just 7 innings, at a solid average of more than 46. Samson hammered a stunning century, making 119, in what was considered as one of the all-time great knocks in the league's history.
