History And Tournament So Far

These two teams haven’t played against each other before, hence the head to head record is not available.

Both these teams lost their first match of the season and will be looking to set things right and get off the mark in this match.

Lucknow Super Giants threatened to become the first team in IPL 2022 to defend a target, but late blows from Gujarat Titans batsmen David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, ensured that the clash of the new teams was won by Gujarat Titans.

Lucknow Super Giants lost as a result of some strange captaincy from KL Rahul, who stuck with spinners against two aggressive hitters despite the fact that it made it harder for the slower bowlers. Mohammed Shami, the man of the match, took three wickets in three overs with the new ball. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni struck half-centuries to bail Lucknow Super Giants out of trouble and give their bowlers something to work with after KL Rahul was dismissed for a golden duck.

Chennai Super Kings, the IPL 2021 reigning champions, lost their inaugural match against Kolkata Knight Riders, as did Lucknow Super Giants. KKR was never in trouble while chasing a goal of 132, as their top-order contributed collectively. In his comeback to the IPL, Ajinkya Rahane led his side with 44 points.

Former captain MS Dhoni and current captain Ravindra Jadeja then stitched an unbroken 70-run stand for the sixth wicket to get CSK out of danger. MS Dhoni earned his first fifty-point game in nearly three years. CSK managed to score 132 runs, but it was far from enough for their bowlers to defend.

Team News

Lucknow Super Giants

LSG’s primary fast bowler recruit Mark Wood was hurt during England's current tour of the West Indies and has been ruled out of the IPL 2022. Andrew Tye has been named as his formal successor. Marcus Stoinis, the all-rounder for the Lucknow Super Giants, is in Pakistan for the white-ball series against the hosts and is expected to miss at least the first four matches of the season.

Jason Holder was a member of West Indies' national squad for the Test series against England, which concluded on Sunday (March 27). He is anticipated to arrive in India in a few days and would be isolated for three days before rejoining his teammates.

Lucknow used three international players against Gujarat Titans, including Evin Lewis, Quinton de Kock, and Dushmantha Chameera, and may use Andrew Tye against CSK in lieu of Mohsin Khan, who went wicketless and returned with numbers of 0/18 in two overs.

LSG Probable XI versus CSK: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (w), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Andrew Tye,

Chennai Super Kings

Moeen Ali, the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder, finally joined the team on Monday morning. He has completed his three-day quarantine period.  Moeen will participate in CSK's second match against the Lucknow Super Giants, which is wonderful news.

Moeen Ali has been one of the greatest performers for the yellow army in 15 matches, picking up 6 wickets and scoring 357 runs with thea highest score of 58, at a strike rate of 137.30, hitting 19 sixes and 31 fours for the MS Dhoni-led squad.

Moeen Ali, CSK all-rounder may replace Mitchell Santner who returned with figures of 1/31 in his 4 overs in CSK’s playing XI against LSG. In another change, Shivam Dube, who scored only 3 off 6 balls and conceded 11 runs in the solitary over he bowled, may be replaced by pacer KM Asif or 2022 U19 World Cup-winning all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

CSK Probable XI Against LSG: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (capt), MS Dhoni (wk), Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwayne Bravo, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

Chennai Super Kings are the favourites to win the match with odds of 1.72 as per Betway, which is largely based on the team’s strength on paper and also LSG’s injury and captaincy troubles. LSG to win have odds of 2.15, which might be tempting as they almost beat Gujarat Titans the other day with an impressive performance but fell short in the end due to some poor decision making.

Top Team Batsman

KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock are the expected favourites from LSG to be the top scorers, with odds of 2.87 and 3.60 respectively, despite both failing to kick on in the previous match. The versatile Manish Pandey is 6.00 to be LSG’s top scorer in this match.

Young Ruturaj Gaekwad is the favourite to be Chennai Super Kings’ top batsman in this match with odds of 3.25. He is followed by Moeen Ali at 5.00.

Highest Opening Partnership

LSG are favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership in this match. This is primarily because they have one of the best opening pairs in Rahul and De Kock, and they will be desperate to get off to a solid start after the failure in the first match, while Chennai are now reliant on Gaekwad and Convoy to fire, which is an untested partnership, and have odds of 1.90.

Top Team Bowler

Dwayne Bravo is CSK’s favourite to be the top bowler with odds of just 3.25, a testament to his wicket taking ability in the death overs. He has been one of the most prolific bowlers in the IPL in recent years.  He is followed by Adam Milne at 3.60 and KM Asif at 4.75.

Former Delhi Capitals’ pacer Avesh Khan is the LSG favourite to be the top bowler, at 3.50. He is followed by Dushmanta Chameera at 3.75.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 340.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per Betway. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and are capable of posting huge totals.

Individual Player Betting

  • KL Rahul to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83, which is arguably the safest bet in this match as he is LSG’s primary batsman. Devon Conway to score more than 24.5 runs has odds of 1.83 as per Betway , which is a tempting bet as he would like to give a quick start to his team as always
  • LSG to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.00, which is understandable as they have several players who can clear the ropes. KL Rahul, De Kock, Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya all are known for their big hits. CSK to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.05, which is understandable as they have Dhoni and Moeen Ali, along with Devon Conway, who can clear the ropes with ease.
  • Avesh Khan to take 2 or more wickets for LSG has odds of 2.37, which is attractive as he can snap up key wickets. Dwayne Bravo to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.25, which is still attractive as he is one of the best bowlers in the league.
