IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs

An extraordinary result was achieved by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a match at DY Patil Sports Complex, Mumbai in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 last night. The team led by Ravindra Jadeja finally recorded their first win after they beat RCB with 23 runs.

The Super Kings suffered four straight defeats this season before they finally managed their hard-earned win. This victory is also Jadeja's first win as CSK captain.

"First of all, this is my first victory as the captain ever. I will dedicate this to my wife because the first victory is always special," said Jadeja after the game.

Revenge for four defeats

Despite having lost the first four games, the 33-year-old is feeling happy after his team finally managed to avenge their four-game losing streak. They got off to a promising start last night thanks to the brilliant performances of Robin Uthappa, Shivam Dube, and Maheesh Theekshana.

"In the last four games, we were not able to cross the line. Special shoutout to Robbie and Shivam for batting the way they did," said Jadeja. According to him, everyone contributed greatly to this victory. The bowling side also performed well, with Theekshana's 4/33 performance. During the match, Jadeja also took three wickets.

The Indian all-rounder believes that CSK's performances are improving in every match. The CSK captain said that his team had quite a lot of experience and practiced a lot. Furthermore, the CSK team intends to maintain the momentum and maintain the victory in the next match. Jadeja said that everyone did a great job and the bowlers also made an amazing contribution to the ball.

“Our owners and management do not put pressure on me. They motivate me," he added.

Still learning as captain

Despite picking up his first win as CSK captain, Jadeja said he is still learning in his role and it will take time to get the most out of it. According to him, being a captain was new learning for him as he had never led a team on a stage as big as the IPL. Jadeja also said how he always discussed and consulted former CSK captain, MS Dhoni, if he needed help.

“It takes time to get into the mould but I am learning every day and getting into the role. As captain, I pick the brains of senior players. Mahi bhai is there, I always go to him and discuss,” Jadeja said.

Meanwhile, RCB captain Faf du Plessis admitted his team missed Harshal Patel's contribution after Patel left the game following the death of a member of his family on Saturday. The RCB star is known for his amazing variety and death bowling skills.

"You see the value he (Harshal) offers not only for this team but any team. He has got the ability to completely stop the game. We missed it tonight. Even towards the end, we lacked variety. Big miss to us, hope we will get it back soon again.” said du Plessis.

In order to show solidarity with Patel and his family, RCB players also wore black armbands during the match.
