IPL 2022: Livingstone performs extraordinary as Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) managed to record a big win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 with 54 runs at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Sunday. This is the third defeat for CSK in a row.

This season's edition of the Indian Premier League doesn't seem to be going well for Chennai. In the first match, they had to admit the advantage over the Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, in the second match, the CSK bowlers were unable to maintain their 210 against the Lucknow Super Giants bats.

In the third match, against the powerful punches of the Punjab Kings, CSK had to taste defeat once again. There is something interesting and a highlight in this match, namely the performance of Liam Livingstone who closed the catch to end the match.

Livingstone's performance

Livingstone performed extraordinarily and truly became a shining star at the moment when PBKS destroyed the CSK. With an all-around performance of 60 off 32 on bats and 2-25 in three overs, the English cricketer is a star for the Punjab team. Apart from Livingstone, debutant speedster Vaibhav Arora also dazzled with his bat as he finished 2-21 in four overs.

Livingstone was so brilliant with bat and ball that he was awarded Player of the Match. The 28-year-old cricketer came at a difficult time as the Punjab Kings lost two early wickets at Mayank Agarwal and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. He was able to turn the game around with 32 balls and 60 runs. Livingstone is known as one of the most destructive T20 hitters in the global league.

The pursuit of the 180 targets was initially very difficult for the Super Kings as they had lost five goals including Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja by 37 in the first 8 overs. Shivam Dube then stepped up and hit 26 50 balls but MS Dhoni wasn't fast enough to score. The pressure then shifted to Dube on 57 of 30 balls. In the same round, Dwayne Bravo said goodbye and Pretorious left after hitting just one-six.

PKBS vs CSK

Previously after losing two wickets in the second half, Livingstone and Shikhar Dhawan managed to unite 95 run stands in just 52 balls. The Punjab team then add another 71 for a total of the next 60 balls.

Dube who hit 57 runs from 30 balls, failed to bring the team past the finish line. Rahul Chahar took three wickets, while Arora and Livingstone took two each.

The Punjab Kings recorded 180 for eight in 20 over as Livingstone smashed 60 of 32 balls. Meanwhile, Chris Jordan and Dwaine Pretorius took two wickets for Punjab. Livingstone got a couple of wickets and he took the final catch to cap off the night of victory.

CSK's third loss didn't look good for the 'Yellow Brigade'. This defeat puts them in a low position and under great pressure. Next, the Punjab Kings will face the Gujarat Titans on April 8. In this match, the Punjab Kings were determined to do their best and win.
