IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja facing 150th match for the Chennai Super Kings

Ravindra Jadeja, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, has reached an IPL milestone as he prepares to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 150th match at DY Patil Stadium. He is following the footsteps of Mahendra Singh Doni (217 matches) and Suresh Raina (200 matches) in achieving the feat for the four-time IPL champions.

His contribution to CSK was shown only in his second game with CSK in 2012. He scored 48 off 29 balls and helped the team win by 74 runs. The all-rounder joined CSK in 2012 and continued to give his contributions to the team.

"CSK is everything. It’s a family. CSK is like my home now. I’ve been a part of the team for 10 years. I don’t see myself playing for some other team from now," Jadeja said.

Last year, Jadeja took Harshal Patel for 36 runs in a single over and led the team to victory by 69 runs over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Following the 2022 IPL match, Jadeja was appointed as the new captain of CSK.

In 149 matches, Jadeja scalped 110 wickets, and he is the third-highest wicket-taker for CSK. He also helped the team with 1,523 runs. The 33-year old player is capable of turning the game according to the demands of the situation that the team is currently in. He is known for his quick runs and his ability to scalp wickets with the ball and break flourishing partnerships.

The team, on the other hand, was having a difficult start to the IPL tournament. CSK have gone through three losing streaks and has yet to win a game. CSK were defeated by KKR by six wickets in the first game. During the match against LSG, CSK also lost by six wickets and failed to defend 210. PBKS also defeated CSK by 54 runs, snapping CSK's three-game losing streak.

Game preview: CSK vs. SRH

CSK and SRH have previously played 16 matches, with CSK winning 12 and SRH winning two. Jadeja hopes to defeat SRH and restore the team's winning streak, as CSK dominated SRH last season.

“In T20 cricket, it's a matter of one match. If you win one match, the momentum comes your way,” he stated. “One win will put us on the right track and give us the rhythm because all our players are so experienced that you don't need to tell anyone anything because everyone knows their game. We are working hard towards that.”

Jadeja will play along with the other CSK members including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Chris Jordan, and Maheesh Theekshana/Dwayne Bravo.

While for SRH, the line-up will be Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad, Romario Shepherd, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, and Kane Williamson as the team’s captain.

CSK are expected to defeat SRH with the return of Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali, which will boost the team's performance. Furthermore, Du Plessis and Jadeja are said to be in peak condition.
