History

DC and KKR have a fierce long term rivalry, with players such as Andre Russell and Gautam Gambhir playing for both these franchises. While KKR have own the IPL twice, DC have still not won the title even once. Their head to head record is also interesting, with KKR winning 16 of the 30 matches played while DC have won 13, with 1 match being declared as a non result. DC earned a deserved victory over KKR earlier this season as they hammered 215.

Team News And Tournament So Far

Delhi Capitals

In their first IPL encounter, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets. Lalit Yadav of the Delhi Capitals hit 48 not out from 38 balls down the order as DC chased down the total of 178 with 10 balls to spare.

Axar Patel produced a 17-ball 38 not out, and opener Prithvi Shaw added 38 as well. Basil Thampi grabbed three wickets for 35 runs for MI. Earlier, Ishan Kishan produced an unbeaten 81, but it all went in vain eventually. Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 3/18 to limit Mumbai to 177/5 in 20 overs, and Delhi Capitals quickly chased it down, reaching 179/6 in 18.2 overs.

In the second game, a valiant innings by captain Rishabh Pant went in vain, as DC collapsed to a 14 run defeat against Gujarat Titans. This leaves DC languishing in the middle of the table.

The Delhi Capitals may suffer a setback if Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is unable to play due to a hip ailment. The injury and subsequent illness to the all-rounder is yet another setback for the Delhi Capitals, who have also been without South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje for much of the season.

During the match against Mumbai, Delhi only used two of their seven international players, Tim Seifert and Rovman Powell. However, Mitchell Marsh's Australian teammate David Warner finally made his comeback for the Delhi franchise after a gap of 10 years against Lucknow Super Giants, though that ended in disappointment as he didn't play a good innings and DC lost again.

The Capitals are definitely missing the services of their express Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje who still isn’t 100% fit. The Indian bowling contingent of DC isn’t an experienced one but they have to put up a better show against KKR if they want to progress to the playoffs. Having been found positive for COVID-19, Delhi Capitals’ Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and New Zealand’s keeper batter Tim Seifert are still unavailable for this match

Delhi Capitals Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (captain/wicketkeeper), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR started the season very well, earning a solid win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings. They then lost to RCB by just 3 wickets, in a match where they almost defended a very low total. KKR bounced right back up with an impressive victory over Punjab Kings, as Andre Russel seems to have found his batting form back.

KKR has the option of fielding an extra international player in place of keeper Sheldon Jackson or pacer Shivam Mavi, who both struggled against Chennai. The Knight Riders lost their second game against RCB, though they almost defended a very modest total with some brilliant bowling.

Chamika Karunaratne of Sri Lanka, Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, and Tim Southee of New Zealand are the international alternatives on the bench. Tim Southee or Mohammad Nabi might get a chance to play against Punjab. Shreyas Iyer gave KKR debuts to Ajinkya Rahane, English wicket-keeper Sam Billings, and domestic stalwart Sheldon Jackson in the absence of Australia's batsman Aaron Finch and bowler Pat Cummins against Chennai in their first game.

Pat Cummins' return has been a brilliant boost for KKR as he played a blinder of an innings in the match against MI, scoring a brilliant 56 off just 15 balls ! He was also lethal with the ball and is one of the biggest assets in the T20 game.

KKR made a tough call of benching Pat Cummins in the last game. It was a gamble, but it definitely paid dividends with Tim Southee making the most of the opportunity. With the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana too facing the heat, KKR needs to make some tough calls. Varun Chakravarthy’s space in the eleven is definitely under the scanner. Aman Khan, Anukul Roy, or Harshit Rana could come in for the mystery spinner who has been totally out of sorts this season.

KKR Predicted Playing XI : Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings(w), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Pat Cummins, Varun Chakravarthy.

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

Both these teams have equal odds of winning this match at 1.90. Both these teams are struggling in the bottom 4 of the league table.

Top Team Batsman

The Delhi Capitals top order is littered with talent, and the new favourite to be the top scorer is undoubtedly the returning David Warner at 3.25, followed by their captain Rishabh Pant at 3.50, while opener Prithvi Shaw also has odds of 3.50, which is attractice as he is in form.

Captain Shreyas Iyer is again the favourite to be KKR’s top scorer in this match, as he is widely considered to be their most consistent batsman and has odds of 3.75. Opener Venkatesh Iyer has odds of 4.00 to be the top scorer as he scored a brilliant 50 in the previous match.

Highest Opening Partnership

DC are favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership in this match. This is primarily because they have one of the best opening pairs in Warner and Shaw, who may not have clicked in their first outing together but still managed a 50 run partnership largely because of Shaw alone. They managed 3 more 50 partnerships KKR have odds of 1.90.

Top Team Bowler

Mustafizur Rahman is unsurprisingly one of the favourites to be the top bowler for the Capitals at 3.75, while the experienced Shardul Thakur also has odds of 3.75. The returning Khaleel, another has odds of 4.00 after a disaappointing performance in the previous game.

Umesh Yadav has surprisingly emerged as KKR’s favourite to be the top bowler at 3.75 as he is their leading wicket-taker in the league so far, while leggie Varun Chakravarthy has odds of 4.00.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 339.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per Dafabet. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.

Individual Player Betting

  • Shreyas Iyer to score more than 24.5 runs has odds of 1.87, which is a tempting bet as he would like to continue his current form and give KKR a top start. Prithvi Shaw to score more than 24.5 runs has odds of 1.83 , which is a tempting bet as he is in good form and gave a good start in the previous match.

  • KKR to hit the most sixes has odds of 1.72, which can be very tempting with Russell back in form, along with Iyer, Rana and Narine’s ability to clear the rope. Delhi have decent odds in this department with David Warner back, at 2.35.
  • Mustafizur to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.25, while Umesh Yadav to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.10.
