Team News And Tournament So Far

Delhi Capitals

In their first IPL encounter, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets. Lalit Yadav of the Delhi Capitals hit 48 not out from 38 balls down the order as DC chased down the total of 178 with 10 balls to spare.

Axar Patel produced a 17-ball 38 not out, and opener Prithvi Shaw added 38 as well. Basil Thampi grabbed three wickets for 35 runs for MI. Earlier, Ishan Kishan produced an unbeaten 81, but it all went in vain eventually. Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 3/18 to limit Mumbai to 177/5 in 20 overs, and Delhi Capitals quickly chased it down, reaching 179/6 in 18.2 overs.

In the second game, a valiant innings by captain Rishabh Pant went in vain, as DC collapsed to a 14 run defeat against Gujarat Titans. This leaves DC languishing in the middle of the table.

The Delhi Capitals may suffer a setback if Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is unable to play due to a hip ailment. Mitchell Marsh was scheduled to become eligible for the franchise on April 6. The injury to the all-rounder is yet another setback for the Delhi Capitals, who may also be without South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje for much of the season.

During the match against Mumbai, Delhi only used two of their seven international players, Tim Seifert and Rovman Powell. However, Mitchell Marsh's Australian teammate David Warner is expected to finally make his comeback for the Delhi franchise after a gap of 10 years ! This would be an instant boost for the Capitals.

The Capitals are definitely missing the services of their express Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje who still isn’t 100% fit. The Indian bowling contingent of DC isn’t an experienced one but they have to put up a better show against KKR if they want to progress to the playoffs. Having been found positive for COVID-19, Delhi Capitals’ Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and New Zealand’s keeper batter Tim Seifert are still unavailable for this match

Delhi Capitals Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Sarfaraz, Rishabh Pant (captain/wicketkeeper), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants threatened to become the first team in IPL 2022 to defend a target, but late blows from Gujarat Titans batsmen David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, ensured that the clash of the new teams was won by Gujarat Titans in their first match.

LSG lost as a result of some strange captaincy from KL Rahul, who stuck with spinners against two aggressive hitters despite the fact that it made it harder for the slower bowlers. Mohammed Shami, the man of the match, took three wickets in three overs with the new ball. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni struck half-centuries to bail Lucknow Super Giants out of trouble and give their bowlers something to work with after KL Rahul was dismissed for a golden duck.

LSG bounced back brilliantly in their second and third matches however, and earned their first ever IPL wins with a solid performance overall.

LSG’s primary fast bowler recruit Mark Wood was hurt during England's current tour of the West Indies and has been ruled out of the IPL 2022. Andrew Tye has been named as his formal successor. Marcus Stoinis, the all-rounder for the Lucknow Super Giants, is in Pakistan for the white-ball series against the hosts and is expected to miss at least the first four matches of the season.

Jason Holder was a member of West Indies' national squad for the Test series against England, which concluded on Sunday (March 27), and he has since made his debut for LSG.

Lucknow used three international players against Gujarat Titans, including Evin Lewis, Quinton de Kock, and Dushmantha Chameera, and may use Andrew Tye again versus DC.

LSG defeated DC in a crunch match with an assured performance, and were battling for top spot in the IPL standings with 3 wins in 5 matches, after losing their previous match by a very narrow margin of only 3 runs. However, they have lost 2 of their last 3 matches, and are now stuck at 4th place on the table.

LSG Probable XI versus SRH: KL Rahul (captain), Quinton de Kock (wicketkeeper), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Andrew Tye, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi.

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

Lucknow Super Giants are the favourites to win the match with odds of 1.85 as per Betway. This is primarily because LSG are considered to have one of the most balanced squads in the league. KL Rahul is in the form of his life. DC have been shaky of late and have odds of 2.00 to win this match.

Top Team Batsman

The Delhi Capitals top order is littered with talent, and the new favourite to be the top scorer is undoubtedly the returning David Warner, followed by their captain Rishabh Pant at 3.50, while opener Prithvi Shaw has odds of 3.60.

KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock are the expected favourites from LSG to be the top scorers, with odds of 2.87 and 3.60 respectively. The versatile Manish Pandey is 6.00 to be LSG’s top scorer in this match.

Highest Opening Partnership

Both these teams are equal favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership in this match. This is primarily because they both have two of the best opening pairs in Rahul and De Kock, and Shaw and Warner respectively, and they will be desperate to get off to a solid start.

Top Team Bowler

Mustafizur Rahman is unsurprisingly one of the favourites to be the top bowler for the Capitals at 3.75, while the experienced Shardul Thakur also has odds of 3.75.

Former Delhi Capitals’ pacer Avesh Khan is the LSG favourite to be the top bowler, at 3.50. He is followed by Dushmanta Chameera at 3.75.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 341.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per Betway. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.

Individual Player Betting

  • KL Rahul to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83, which is arguably the safest bet in this match as he is LSG’s primary batsman. David Warner to score more than 24.5 runs has odds of 1.83 , which is a tempting bet as he is in good form and gave a good start in the previous match.
  • LSG to hit the most sixes has odds of 1.80, which is understandable as they have several players who can clear the ropes. KL Rahul, De Kock, Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya all are known for their big hits. Delhi have odds of 2.05 to hit the most sixes.
  • Mustafizur to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.35, while Avesh Khan to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.20.
