History

These two teams have never played each other before since this is LSG's first ever appearance in the IPL.

Team News And Tournament So Far

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have had a disastrous start to the IPL 2022 season, losing both their first two matches comprehensively. Their bowling has been very poor as DC and RR both found it very easy to post huge totals against them.

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners, have received good news in the form of ace batsman Suryakumar Yadav's comeback from rehabilitation. Yadav, who missed the first two IPL games against Rajasthan Royals(RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), has made a comeback to the team.

Daniel Sams proved to be quite expensive in MI's first game. He conceded 57 runs in four overs and was a major factor for the team's loss in their first game. Riley Meredith, Fabian Allen, or Jaydev Unadkat might take his spot in the starting XI.

Tilak Varma showed off his abilities in the first game against DC, scoring a critical 22 runs off 15 deliveries, and he was also solid against Rajasthan Royals, scoring a brilliant 61 off just 33 balls, studded with 5 sixes. Despite encouraging individual performances, MI have lost 5 out of 5 matches so far, including a heartbreaking defeat in their previous match against Punjab Kings.

Mumbai Indians can easily drop Basil Thampi and Jaydev Unadkat and play both Riley Meredith and Tymal Mills which would significantly boost their bowling attack by a mile or they may opt to play Fabian Allen in place of Ramandeep Singh. Dewald Brevis finally stepped in the previous match with a brilliant innings but could not prevent another defeat.

MI Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (captain), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants threatened to become the first team in IPL 2022 to defend a target, but late blows from Gujarat Titans batsmen David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, ensured that the clash of the new teams was won by Gujarat Titans in their first match.

They lost as a result of some strange captaincy from KL Rahul, who stuck with spinners against two aggressive hitters despite the fact that it made it harder for the slower bowlers. Mohammed Shami, the man of the match, took three wickets in three overs with the new ball. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni struck half-centuries to bail Lucknow Super Giants out of trouble and give their bowlers something to work with after KL Rahul was dismissed for a golden duck.

LSG bounced back brilliantly in their second and third matches however, and earned their first ever IPL wins with a solid performance overall.

Lucknow's primary fast bowler recruit Mark Wood was hurt during England's current tour of the West Indies and has been ruled out of the IPL 2022. Andrew Tye has been named as his formal successor. Marcus Stoinis, the all-rounder for the Lucknow Super Giants, was in Pakistan for the white-ball series against the hosts but is now back.

LSG defeated DC in a crunch match with an assured performance, and are battling for top spot in the IPL standings with 3 wins in 5 matches, after losing their previous match by a very narrow margin of only 3 runs.

LSG Probable XI : KL Rahul (captain), Quinton de Kock (wicketkeeper), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Andrew Tye, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi.

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

MI are surprisingly still the favourites to win this match at odds of 1.80. They haven't won a single game yet they are favourites against Lucknow, who have won 3 of their 5 matches and have odds of 2.05 to win this match, which are quite tempting.

Top Team Batsman

Mumbai Indians have a brilliant opening pair and both of them are the favourites to be their top scorers, with Ishan Kishan having odds of 3.25 and Rohit Sharma’s odds being 3.00.

KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock are the expected favourites from LSG to be the top scorers, with odds of 2.87 and 3.60 respectively. The versatile Manish Pandey is 6.00 to be LSG’s top scorer in this match.

Highest Opening Partnership

Both teams are equal favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership as Rohit and Ishan Kishan are considered as one of the best opening pairs in the league. While De Kock and Rahul are also a top opening pair.

Top Team Bowler

Jasprit Bumrah is the clear favourite from MI to be their top bowler with odds of 3.25, while Tymal Mills had a great outing in the previous match and has odds of 3.75.

Former Delhi Capitals’ pacer Avesh Khan is the LSG favourite to be the top bowler, at 3.50. He is followed by Dushmanta Chameera at 3.75.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 338.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per 10cric. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.

Individual Player Betting

  • Ishan Kishan to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83 , which is a tempting bet as he is in incredible form and struck a brilliant half century in the first match as well. KL Rahul to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83, which is arguably the safest bet in this match as he is LSG’s primary batsman.
  • MI to hit the most sixes has brilliant odds of 2.05, which can be tempting with Yadav back in the team and traditional big hitters Rohit, Ishan and Pollard all ready and waiting. Dewald Brevis alone hit 5 sixes in the previous match. LSG to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.05 as well, which is understandable as they have several players who can clear the ropes. KL Rahul, De Kock, Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya all are known for their big hits
  • Avesh Khan to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.55, while Bumrah to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.00, as this promises to be a clash of these fiery pacers.
