History

The Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals have met in 26 IPL matches. The Mumbai Indians have won 13 of these 26 games, while the Rajasthan Royals have won 12 times. One match finished in a no result.

Since 2018, Rajasthan have won 6 of the 9 games they have played versus Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians (MI) have unquestionably been the most dominant side in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They won the title in both 2019 and 2020. One of the key reasons for the team's steady performances in the competition is that it has kept its core group of players.

Rajasthan Royals (RR), the IPL 2008 champions, have, on the other side, struggled in recent years. In the previous two seasons, they finished seventh and eighth, respectively. The Rajasthan Royals won the initial IPL season, but their subsequent results have been underwhelming.

Earlier this season, Rajasthan dominated their way to a deserved win againt MI, who have not won a single match so far.

Team News And Tournament So Far

Mumbai Indians

In their debut IPL encounter, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets. Lalit Yadav of the Delhi Capitals hit 48 not out from 38 balls down the order as DC chased down the total of 178 with 10 balls to spare.

Axar Patel produced a 17-ball 38 not out, and opener Prithvi Shaw added 38 as well. Basil Thampi grabbed three wickets for 35 runs for MI. Earlier, Ishan Kishan produced an unbeaten 81, but it all went in vain eventually. Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 3/18 to limit Mumbai to 177/5 in 20 overs, and Delhi Capitals quickly chased it down, reaching 179/6 in 18.2 overs.

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners, have received good news in the form of ace batsman Suryakumar Yadav's comeback from rehabilitation. Yadav, who missed the first IPL game between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC), could be available for the second game after fully recovering from his injury. He will almost certainly replace Anmolpreet Singh, who scored 8 points off 9 balls against Delhi.

Daniel Sams proved to be quite expensive in MI's first game. He conceded 57 runs in four overs and was a major factor for the team's loss in their first game. Riley Meredith, Fabian Allen, or Jaydev Unadkat might take his spot in the starting XI.

Tilak Varma showed off his abilities in the first game against DC, scoring a critical 22 runs off 15 deliveries, and he might play against Rajasthan next.

Mumbai Indians Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Riley Meredith, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Basil Thampi.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals' bowling attack, headed by Prasidh Krishna, who rattled the top order, including removing skipper Kane Williamson for 2 runs, limited Sunrisers Hyderabad to just 149-7 despite Aiden Markram's unbeaten 57, in their first match. Yuzvendra Chahal claimed three wickets to achieve 250 wickets in T20 matches, while Trent Bowler took two.

Sanju Samson, RR’s brilliant keeper-batsman, was named the Man Of The Match after smashing three fours and five sixes in his 27-ball blitz, hitting 55 and putting on a crucial 73-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 41. Shimron Hetmyer of the West Indies struck 32 off 13 balls and blasted two sixes to push the Royals' total above 200 after being put in to bat first. The Royals ended up with an emphatic 61 run victory.

Rajasthan Royals would have to select between Kiwi James Neesham and Australian Nathan Coulter-Nile against MI, with Jos Buttler, Trent Boult, and Shimron Hetmyer filling the remaining three positions, but they may field an unchanged XI after defeating SRH and MI.

In case of an injury, Rajasthan may also field one out of Navdeep Saini, KC Cariappa, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Karun Nair, Rassie van der Dussen, Daryl Mitchell, or Obed McCoy.

Buttler's form is impeccable at the moment, and he looks set to take them to another victory here.

Rajasthan Royals Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna.

Betting Preview, Picks And Prediction

To Win The Match

Rajasthan are favourites to win this match at 1.80, as they are league leaders and also have the purple cap as well as the orange cap owners in the same team. MI haven't won a single match yet and have odds of 2.05 in this match.

Top Team Batsman

Mumbai Indians have a brilliant opening pair and both of them are the favourites to be their top scorers, with Ishan Kishan having odds of 3.60 and Rohit Sharma’s odds being 3.00.

Sanju Samson was on fire in the previous game and is again one of the favourites to be RR’s top scorer in this match, as he is widely considered to be their most consistent batsman and has odds of 3.75. Opener Jos Buttler, who smashed a brilliant half century in the previous game, has odds of 3.25.

Highest Opening Partnership

Mumbai Indians are favourites at 1.80 to have the highest opening partnership as Rohit and Ishan Kishan are considered as one of the best opening pairs in the league. Rajasthan Royals got off to a great start in the previous match with Buttler and Yashashvi Jaiswal both getting some solid hits, and have odds of 1.90 to win this bet.

Top Team Bowler

Jasprit Bumrah is the clear favourite from MI to be their top bowler with odds of 3.50, while Tymal Mills had a great outing in the previous match and has odds of 3.75.

Trent Boult is unsurprisingly one of the favourites to be the top bowler for the Royals at 3.75, while the prolific Yuzu Chahal also has odds of 3.75.

Total Runs In The Match

Odds of there being more than 344.5 runs in this match are 1.83, as per Betway. This seems highly achievable as both these teams have some brilliant batsmen and have scored plenty of runs this season.

Individual Player Betting

  • Ishan Kishan to score more than 29.5 runs has odds of 1.83 , which is a tempting bet as he is in incredible form and struck a brilliant half century in the previous match as well. Jos Buttler to score more than 28.5 runs also has odds of 1.83, which is also a tempting bet as he was on fire in the first game for the Royals.
  • MI to hit the most sixes has odds of 2.00, which can be tempting with Yadav back in the team and traditional big hitters Rohit, Ishan and Pollard all ready and waiting. RR to hit the most sixes also have the same odds, as Buttler, Padikkal, Samson and Hetmyer all are known for their big hits.
  • Boult to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.50, while Bumrah to take 2 or more wickets has odds of 2.35, as both former MI pacers now face each other.
