The Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Chennai Super Kings 173/8 in Match 49 of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The victory was aided by the RCB team's outstanding effort.
RCB's triumph
The Challengers got off to a good start in the first half of the game, scoring 57 runs in the powerplay. At both ends of the court, skipper Faf du Plessis and star batsman Virat Kohli smacked home runs. After scoring 38 runs off 22 balls, Moeen Ali dismissed du Plessis. In the eighth round, Bangalore's total score reached 62/1.
Glenn Maxwell joined Kohli at the penultimate crease but was removed by Robin Uthappa at over 9 and only managed to score three runs. The Challengers began to falter at this point, as Kohli lost his wicket after scoring 30 runs.
Soon after, Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar sparked Bangalore's revival by scoring some spectacular runs. Both teams scored in the 15th over, bringing RCB's total to 120.
When the Challengers scored a total score of 123/4, Dwaine Pretorius managed to get Patidar off the field, giving CSK a chance. Dinesh Karthik and Lomror walked to the crease and transformed the game.
Lomror scored 42 runs off 27 balls before being caught by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the 19th over on Maheesh Theekshana's cross. Wanindu Hasaranga was given a red card on the next ball, reducing Bangalore's score to 155/6.
Harshal Patel joined Karthik in the final over before departing on the fifth delivery. Karthik hit two sixes off the last ball to end the RCB inning.
