Yusuf Pathan says Shane Warne always has 'a special place in my heart'

Yusuf Pathan, an all-rounder who used to play for India, is one of the most potent players India has ever had. The right-handed batsman was on India's World Cup-winning squads in 2007 and 2011. He has also had some great innings for his country and the IPL franchise.

Pathan was known as one of the best hitters of the ball in slog overs when he played for India. The 39-year-old played in 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is, scoring 810 runs in ODIs and 236 runs in T20Is.

The right-handed batsman also had memorable innings in the Indian Premier League. During the tournament's first year, he played for Rajasthan Royals and helped make the team proud. In the final match against Chennai Super Kings, he was named Player of the Match.

Yusuf Pathan and Shane Warne's memories

Pathan talked about his memories of Shane Warne, the former captain of RR who died earlier this year, in an interview with CricTracker. He also sent RR, the team that will play the last game of IPL 2022, a special message.

Pathan also said what it was like to be friends with Warne. He said that Warne made him feel very sure of himself. The former Baroda player also talked about how Warne watched him play and gave him a good role on the team.

"Warne will always have a special place in my heart,” said Pathan. The former Indian cricket player also praised Warne's leadership skills. Pathan said that Warne put his faith in him for the semifinals and finals, which were the most important games.

“I remember he (Warne) used to say that I am his man who can turn the match or win the match for our team. Before coming to the IPL, Warne studied my game and gave me the freedom to play as I wanted. He showed confidence in me right from the first game, and whenever there was an important match, including semi-finals and finals, he used to boost my confidence."

The pool session incident

Pathan told an exciting story about Shane Warne from IPL 2008 when he was captain of Rajasthan. The hard-hitting all-rounder said that Shane Warne punished him harshly once when he missed a pool session because of a misunderstanding.

"I do not recall him punishing us for any practice session, but we missed a pool session due to some lack of communication," he said. "As soon as we're about to reach the hotel, I along with several other cricketers from the international arena including Jadeja were told to reach the hotel by walking as a punishment.”

In the meantime, Pathan was not punished alone. He was punished with Ravindra Jadeja, who is currently the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. He is a versatile player who bats and bowls left-handed orthodox spin.

Jadeja was recently promoted this year and all eyes were on the newly appointed CSK captain to see if he can lead his team to a victory in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. By the end of the season, CSK managed to take home four wins out of its 13 games and is currently in ninth place out of the ten teams.
