The 2022 IPL Auction promises to be the biggest ever auction ever held for any private sporting event in the world, with a major player reshuffle enforced. Many of the top players in the world were not retained by their clubs, and their names have been thrown into the auction pool, up for grabs.

Kuldeep Yadav, an Indian international cricketer playing for India as well as Uttar Pradesh in the domestic cricket scene, has been dropped from playing for Team India. The player also appears not to make an appearance with the Pradesh until June this year for the second run of the domestic season following team mismanagement and other issues per multiple reports. Yadav is a left-arm spinner who has been pulled out from Test matches and failed to make a cut in some of the competitions where he was initially supposed to participate. This series of unfortunate events had struck Yadav and his cricketing career simultaneously.

Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best Indian cricketers and greatest fielder of this decade, he has achieved yet another international recognition recently. The 33-year-old is named as No. 1 in the ICC rankings of all-rounders cricketers. Jadeja captivated many in a recent Test home playing for India against Sri Lanka with a resume-worthy performance of the bat and the ball. This performance blasted his name to the No. 1 position in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings. Prior to the No. 1 position, the player with the nickname Sir Jadeja was ranked 54th on the ICC ranking. He moved up 17 places to No. 34th by scoring a 175. The all-rounder proceeded with adding nine wickets, taking the No. 1 position from Barbadians right-arm medium-fast bowler Jason Holder who had secured the No. 1 position since February last year.

The Indian Premier League 2022 concluded this year's edition of the mega auction on February 13. A total of 204 players were sold in the two-day event, including 66 overseas players. The auction recorded a total of INR 551.7 crore spent or roughly INR 2.7 crores per player in addition to INR 324.2 crores being spent to retain 33 players.

India is expected to host Sri Lanka for three T20Is and two Tests. The T20I series will start on February 24 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The second instalment of the series will take place on February 26 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, while the third will be held on February 27 at the same venue.
