IPL: Rashid Khan shares secret following Gujarat Titans win over SRH by 5 wickets

The Gujarat Titans managed to record an extraordinary result against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. The victory is the result of a huge contribution of GT star Rashid Khan with his incredible hit power. He managed to lead Gujarat to a sensational five-goal win and ended the game perfectly as the team needed 22 to win the last over.

“The feeling feels good, but at the same time, you just have it in mind to go out there and have the self-belief, keep my shape strong, and hit it. I was happy to do it against them but I was just trying to play my game and have the belief in my batting which I've been working on the last two years,” Khan said after the match.

In that final round, bowler Rahul Tewatia gave Rashid full support, remaining unbeaten on 40 of 21 balls. Rashid says in order to win this match, he needs to have faith in himself. According to him, as long as he has that belief, then anything is possible.

“When it was 22 left, I just told Tewatia that we have given 25 in the last over with our best bowler Ferguson. If we have one missed ball, don't think about it and don't panic. Just stay strong and we need to finish it or get as close as possible because it might help us with run rate. Just stay there, keep your shape, and hit it strong. So that was our plan and luckily we had those four sixes," Khan added.

GT players' confidence

There aren't many new franchise teams that shine right away in IPL tournaments. In fact, not infrequently they have to feel defeat before they can win tremendously. But this did not pass for the Titans. The Gujarat-based franchise team has often won consecutive matches. GT managed to strengthen their advantage at the top of the standings.

So far, Gujarat played seven matches in IPL 2022. Of those seven matches, the team led by captain Hardik Pandya has won 6 matches. They recorded only lost 1 time. In the match against SRH, the Titans, who won the toss, chose to bowl first before finally succeeding in recording victory.

Pandya later said, apart from the skills and abilities of the players, his team's victory was also due to the players who were very confident. In addition to being solid during the match, the players also always talk about winning the 'right situation' and it was finally proven in their win over Hyderabad.

Previously, the Titans had also faltered due to the attack of SRH's star Umran Malik and made the Titans stagger at 140 for five or more while chasing 196. He admitted that his team could survive because they had high self-confidence.

“We are quite practical as well and talk about winning the right situations. We always back them because they have a lot of self belief. We have intentionally tried to make sure that the dugout or in the dressing room to keep the atmosphere calm because it helps the players play their best game. A lot of credit goes to the support staff,” said Pandya.
